Teaching Grammar to Young Learners in a Real-World Context
Grammatical structures are the building blocks of language, but the approach to teaching grammar should match the way students learn. Children do not learn through grammatical explanations; rather, they gain an understanding the grammar implicitly through repetition and recycling of the language in different contexts.
In this workshop, Dr. Joan Kang Shin will discuss the ways in which young learners approach language learning, and what we can do as teachers to ensure our grammar instruction is learning-centered, meaningful, interesting, and most importantly effective.
