ENGLISH PILL 176/365: SPECIALLY or ESPECIALLY?

Sometimes these two words both mean ’for a particular purpose’.
I cooked this meal specially / especially for you.

SPECIALLY is often used before an adjective made from a past participle: specially prepared / specially trained / specially adapted

ESPECIALLY is used to give emphasis to a person or thing. This word is usually at the beginning of a phrase but not at the beginning of a sentence: I like all kinds of films, especially horror films.
